Another important topic that drivers will learn about is defensive driving strategies, such as scanning the road ahead, anticipating other drivers' actions, and always being prepared to react to unexpected situations.

1 Hour of in-car Training

During the 1 hour of in-car training of a Driver Improvement Course, drivers will have the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge and skills they learned in the theoretical part. This practical portion of the course will take place with a M.T.O Approved Instructor.

The instructor will also provide guidance on how to apply driving techniques taught in the theoretical portion. This includes how to scan the road ahead, maintain a safe following distance, and make informed decisions in different driving situations. Additionally, by receiving feedback from the instructor, drivers can learn how to identify and correct any bad driving habits they may have developed. Overall, the in-car training component of the Driver Improvement Course is designed to provide drivers with practical experience and build their confidence and skills in a safe and controlled environment.

Assessment

During the assessment, drivers can expect to demonstrate their understanding of traffic rules, road signs and signals, and safe driving techniques, as well as show their ability to properly use vehicle controls and make informed decisions in different driving situations.

The goal of the assessment is to ensure that the driver has grasped the concepts taught in the and can apply them to safely operate a vehicle on the road. Drivers should expect to receive feedback from the assessor on areas they may need to improve upon, and advice on how to further develop their safe driving skills.
